“Mentoring is about being approachable and making time for creative problem solving. Working together as a community with like-minded goals and dreams, we can accomplish anything.”

Julie Glaspy was born and raised in Saint John and graduated from UNB with a Bachelor of Kinesiology in 2002. Since then, Julie has been exploring stone in its many forms and functions. Having trained and worked as a stone mason and a jeweler, Julie has embraced the stone carving spectrum from intricacy to monumental. As one of six interns at Sculpture Saint John (SSJ) 2014, she knows the demanding and exciting learning curve of a symposium. Her first large-scale solo project, for the International Children’s Memorial Park (ICMP), P.E.I., 2015, allowed her to use the skills gained at SSJ. At Sculpture Nova Scotia, Julie will take the lead role of artistic site management. “I want to facilitate a safe and nurturing environment of inclusiveness,” she says. “A comfortable space for sharing and creative development.”
