“I’m truly fascinated by stone, its beauty and physicality, layered and embedded with elements formed by nature’s cycles over time.”

For 20 years, Miro Davis has developed her social sculpture practice, specializing in large-scale wall reliefs and collaborative intermedia installations. Her public works are permanently installed in a multitude of diverse institutions and centres, both in Canada and the United States. Davis is a graduate of NSCAD University majoring in sculpture; her inspiration is from nature, working in clay, glass, wood and metal. At this stage in her career, Davis is ready to take on stone as a new medium, and to develop the skills for large-scale outdoor works and installations. “I’m very excited for the pulse of an International Sculpture Symposium to beat in Halifax,” says Davis. “It’s an inspiration to be part of such energy.”
